We’re Celebrating 15 Years!

Today is a special one at Victory Media.

Fifteen years ago, Victory Media’s co-founders Chris Hale, Rich McCormack and Scotty Shaw celebrated the first day working at a new company—their own. Their mission was simple: create vital, civilian-produced resources for the 250K+ people leaving the military each year, at no cost to service members or taxpayers. In doing so, they introduced these candidates to civilian employment, entrepreneurship and education opportunities. Where companies and schools didn’t recruit from the military, Chris, Rich and Scotty showed them why they should.

Today, we celebrate a rich, 15-year history of creating opportunity and advocacy for our veterans, military spouses, service members and now high school students looking to take that “next step.” What started as an idea in “Suite B” (“B” for the basement in Chris’ house!) has become a thriving, growing business. We couldn’t be more proud of our employees, and thank our clients and business associates who have supported us along the way doing better for veterans and young professionals looking to make a difference in their own lives and careers—and ours.

We can’t wait to see what the next 15 years will bring… and show the world what we can do!

#HonorOurFuture with LinkedIn and Military Friendly®

For 15 years Victory Media has believed that veterans are better off for their service. To provide our heroes with everything they need to start their transition off on the right foot, we are proud to support LinkedIn’s #HonorOurFuture campaign.

#HonorOurFuture is a perfect way to showcase the way ahead for veteran talent. The campaign aims to shift perceptions away from focusing solely on veterans’ past and instead on veterans’ futures and all that they have yet to achieve. While we are proud of all that our service-members and veterans have accomplished in uniform, history has demonstrated that these great individuals are just getting started when they transition to civilian life. The message of the #HonorOurFuture campaign is just that – next time you meet a veteran, don’t just thank them, ask them what’s next.

To help, we are providing our 2017 list of Military Friendly® Employers and our Civilian Career FITness tool alongside LinkedIn’s veteran resources. Our resources coupled with a LinkedIn Job Seeker account give veterans a dynamic 1-2 punch to start their new civilian life.

Happy Veterans Day

Victory Media supplies veterans and their families with Military Friendly® employment, entrepreneurship and education resources – and so for us, every day is a day to honor our veterans.

However around Veterans Day we take extra time to reflect on the heroism of those who have served our country. We showed our appreciation Wednesday by volunteering to raise flags at National Cemetery of the Alleghenies to honor those who have served our country. The cooler fall weather and cloudy skies provided a somber atmosphere as we hoisted the symbol of American freedom above the graves of servicemembers who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Also this week we released our 2017 Military Friendly® lists of employers and schools who have programs in place to be better for veterans. It’s one of the many ways we serve our heroes, not just on Veterans Day, but every day.

US Navy Celebrates 241st birthday

U.S. Navy sailorsOct. 13 is the U.S. Navy‘s 241st birthday, and it’s the perfect time for us to pay tribute to this branch of America’s military that is always ready to answer the call of duty.

Tracing its roots back to the Revolutionary War, when privateers attacked British commerce, the Continental Congress formed the U.S. Navy October 13, 1775. The hope was that a small fleet would be able to take on the powerful British sea power by waging tactical raids against the transports that supplied British forces in North America.

Although the Continental Navy was later dismantled, Oct. 13 remains the U.S. Navy’s official birthday. The U.S. Navy currently maintains an impressive global presence, and it is and always has been an important factor in U.S. foreign and defense policy.
